Más info

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Cádiz, my research focuses on the comprehensive characterization of Spinocerebellar Ataxias (SCAs), with particular emphasis on non-motor symptoms. My aim is to bridge the gap between clinical research and routine medical practice by validating screening tools for the early detection of these symptoms, while also exploring neuromodulation as a non-pharmacological approach to mitigate both motor and cognitive decline.

This dual diagnostic and therapeutic approach builds on my doctoral research at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, where I investigated the neuropsychological profile of SCA36 (“Ataxia da Costa da Morte”). During this period, a research stay in Dr. Schmahmann’s lab at Harvard Medical School fostered my interest in the cerebellum’s role in cognitive and affective processes. Subsequently, I was awarded a Margarita Salas Postdoctoral Fellowship, which enabled me to further explore the social dimensions of cerebellar function in Prof. Van Overwalle’s lab at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. I currently integrate these lines of research to develop comprehensive clinical tools and innovative interventions for individuals with cerebellar disorders.
